Birthday celebrations were short lived as the 2021 MVP award winner, Simbarashe Chiwadzwa, (Nutty O), along with partner Enock Chihombori (ExQ)and Tamuka Makuluni (DJ Tamuka), were arrested at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on the 25th of June for tendering fake Covid 19 tests.
The trio were touring in South Africa earlier this June. They were scheduled to perform at the Zimbabwe – United Kingdom and South Africa Link Up in Newton Park, Johannesburg, on the 4th of June and Kempton Park on the 5th of June. The show featured other acts like Killamani, Takura, DJ Fydale and Kivo Santana.
Upon their return, they were arrested for tendering fake Covid 19 documents. To travel during these times, they require a passport and a Covid 19 document that clears you to travel safe from one country to another. These tests were taken seriously after the new mutated virus was detected in South Africa and some parts of Europe. The same mutation was later detacted in Kwekwe weeks later and led to a fortnight lockdown.
The trio presented themselves in front of the Jury on the 24th of June and were denied bail. Therefore, they are now subjected to remaining behind bars until Monday the 28th June as they wait for their next trial.
We hope it will not be as brutal as what DJ Fantan, Levels and Boss Dammer went through earlier this year for violating Covid 19 Regulations. The story is still developing, more to follow…
